Discover how LEGO® Serious Play® workshops have become an integral part of the professional development portfolio at HPE Sofia
I earned my LEGO® Serious Play® Certification with Bricks and Business in March 2024, together with two other facilitators from HPE. It has been one of the best investments I’ve made—both in my professional development as a facilitator and in my personal growth.
The certification training is rich in depth and thoughtfully designed. It combines solid theoretical grounding in LSP with diverse, hands-on activities that allow you to experience the process from both perspectives: participant and facilitator. This dual lens is incredibly valuable, as it mirrors the way your thinking naturally works in real workshops.
Michel brings impressive knowledge and experience, and his stories from real customer engagements—the successes, challenges, and learning moments—add tremendous value and authenticity to the training.
Today, LSP workshops are an integral part of our professional development portfolio at HPE Sofia, and their impact is clearly recognized by both team members and leadership. The beauty of LEGO® Serious Play® is that it consistently creates aha moments—not only for participants, but for facilitators as well.
Nikoleta Doumanova, HPE, Accredited Trainer and Facilitator
Discover how LEGO® Serious Play® has become a natural part of how Andrey works with clients and at IBM.
I completed one of my LEGO® Serious Play® certifications with Bricks and Business BV, guided by Michel Cloosterman and it has been a genuinely rewarding experience - both professionally and personally.
What stood out to me was how well the training blends theory with practice. I didn’t just learn about the LEGO® Serious Play® methodology - I experienced it. Moving back and forth between the roles of participant and facilitator helped me understand not only how the method works, but why it works and how to apply it in different real-life scenarios. Designing a workshop became much easier for me after this training and the workshops themselves became more impactful for the participants.
Michel is an exceptional trainer. He showed us some very effective facilitation techniques, which I started applying during my own workshops. He is extremely knowledgeable, but what actually makes the training special is the way he shares real stories from his work with clients. Hearing about real challenges, successes and learning moments added a level of authenticity that made the methodology feel practical, natural and applicable.
LEGO® Serious Play® has become a natural part of how I work with my clients and at IBM. I find the methodology to be very effective in coaching, leadership and personal development, team alignment, strategizing sessions, transformation activities and projects as well as team-building events. I’ve seen firsthand how it helps people open up, think differently and engage more deeply. The methodology “gives your brain a hand” and by doing so, it creates insightful moments - not just for participants, but for me as a facilitator as well.
Andrey Mitrev, IBM, Head of Z Ecosystem and Client Skills Leader

Why LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®?
It is about change
Are you the change agent that makes the difference? Then you might consider adding the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method to your skill set. This innovative method is designed to enhance innovation and business performance. The method is used in a wide range variety of organizational contexts, from demanding organizational processes and challenges to teams and personal or leadership
development.
The LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method was
developed at LEGO® in collaboration
with leading researchers in strategy and
organizational behavior, merging the best of
these two worlds.
It is based on research
One of the most important research findings
that underpins the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method and approach is ‘hands-on/minds on’ learning, producing a deeper and more meaningful understanding of the world and its possibilities.
This ‘school of thought’ is to a large degree
developed by Seymour Papert. Other contributors to the research on ‘serious
play’, learning and development are Mihaly
Csikszentmihalyi and Lev Vygotski. The method draws on research from business, organizational development, psychology and
learning fields.
It is about positive outcomes
The LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method is a
facilitated meeting, communication and
problem-solving process in which participants
are led through a series of questions, probing
deeper and deeper into the subject.
LEGO SERIOUS PLAY has been used in education, business, design, marketing,
communications, and many other fields showing positive outcomes for organisations and individuals.
LEGO SERIOUS PLAY is about solving
complex issues building 3-D models with
LEGO bricks. The metaphor and storytelling
derived from the models serve as the spark to
ignite collective discussion, idea sharing and
problem-solving.
